Are water purifiers useful and how do I filter water?
In the following article, we will explain how useful water filters really are and what benefits they can have in the household.
Why it makes sense to filter tap water and why you can save money:
In the USA there are no limits for various impurities and the water can absorb further impurities on its way from the waterworks to your home and can therefore be contaminated.
Substances such as heavy metals, lead, microplastics, medicines, pesticides, chlorine etc. are very bad for our health and these substances are still present in drinking water. However, these substances are reduced or removed by a good water filter.
If we test our tap water before the filter with a simple test strip, it is clear that there is chlorine and that it is acidic. If we test it directly after filtering, the chlorine test is clearly changed. The chlorine content is no longer visible and the water is alkaline.
Exactly for this reason and many others, it makes sense to use water filters.
Water is the most important basis for our life next to air.
Water plays a decisive role in our well-being and for this very reason, we should pay attention to a very good drinking water quality. Many water sources – tap water and/or bottled water – supply water whose pH value is in the acidic range. Your drinking water should offer you the right balance.
If our body is over-acidified, i.e. the pH value is out of balance, it means that our body has to “borrow” the minerals it needs from its reserves. These are mainly minerals such as magnesium, calcium, sodium and potassium, which are stored in vital organs and bones. The admonished “borrowing” can lead to deficiency symptoms in many, different physical areas.
There are different types of filtering.
Very common among the filter systems is either reverse osmosis or the use of an activated carbon filter.
However, the use of reverse osmosis also has the consequence that all minerals and trace elements are also filtered out of the water. The water is no longer alive. Literally dead.
What do water filters filter?
The Nikken PiMag Waterfall is a combination of an activated carbon filter and an ion exchanger.
The water filter combines a multi-stage filtration system in one attractive, compact unit to filter out pollutants, heavy metals, lead bacteria, nitrates, and pesticides.
During the filtering process, the water is enriched with important minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, iron, and sulphate and also enriched with microelements such as zinc, fluorine and iron are supplied and enriched.
Nikken’s Waterfall produces alkaline water in the pH range of 8.5 to 9.5, all made possible by its natural gravity filtration system that treats the water that comes out of your home’s tap. Neither a power source nor a water connection is required to operate the water filter.
Impurities such as chlorine, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, copper, nickel, aluminium, iron and mercury are minimized.
The advantages of minerals in brief:
Calcium is involved in the transmission of nerve signals, blood clotting and muscle contraction.
According to studies, magnesium in drinking water protects diabetics from consequential damage and reduces the risk of heart disease, especially in women.
Sodium is an essential nutrient that regulates blood volume and blood pressure and plays an important role in the function of nerves and muscles.
A potassium-rich diet supports muscle growth and pH balance in the body, while the antioxidant magnesium helps protect against free radical damage.
Even if our tap water is controlled, the impurities can still be in the pipes. This is why our drinking water does not make water filters superfluous at all.
Quite the opposite: if you want pure, living and energetic water, you reach for the water filter system and take the water from the tap to filter it and additionally you save a lot of money – even if you hardly believe it at first. Filtering tap water is much, much cheaper than water from the supermarket!
You often hear that filtering tap water is more expensive than buying bottled water. In the example of the Nikken water filter, we can only disagree.
Already in the 2nd year, the purchase pays off and you save money. A lot! Of course, the regular filter change is included.
We have a clear opinion on the use of bottled water: we are against it. Clearly it is not the better option instead of filtering. Tap water (filtered water anyway) often contains more minerals and has less unhealthy residues. Plastic bottled water is also very bad for the environment and often contains hormones.
Facts why you should prefer a water filter:
Again using Nikken’s carbon-based water filter as an example:
– Using a water filter is environmentally friendly
– it saves money
– you do not have to carry water boxes
– you drink purified water. It is clean.
– it’s mineralized
– it is magnetized
– it is alive
– it is always available
– the water becomes softer. You can taste it.
– you have basic water
– the handling is simple
– the filter filters reliably
– the removal is easy
additional, positive features of the PiMag Waterfall
- The water is magnetized: The 1200 gauss magnet is located at the point where the water flows into the tap. The magnet splits the mass of water molecules into smaller clusters. This should help us to better absorb the water.
- Ion exchange resin is used to remove heavy metals in water treatment products and enrich them with sodium and potassium ions.
- The water conditioner consists of an activated carbon filter and alkalizing filter media. The alkalizing materials consist of minerals that make the water more alkaline, i.e. more basic.
- The use of granulated clay. It contains silver bioballs and mineral balls. It contains various elements that help to filter out contaminants and – by releasing minerals – to raise the pH value.
- The table water filter contains quartz sand and KDF. KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) is also a material that helps reduce contaminants.
The unit produces alkaline water. The Waterfall? has been tested under laboratory conditions and these tests showed that the unit can raise the pH of tap water, which is between 7 and 7.5, to a pH of 8.5 to 9.5.
However, depending on the country and area, results may vary due to different characteristics of the tap water.
Since the water conditioner produces alkaline water, hardly any lime is absorbed in the water. Acidic water releases more lime than alkaline water. In addition, the filter uses a combination of activated carbon filter and ion exchanger, which removes lime, heavy metal components, chlorine as well as odor and taste disturbing substances.
With these tips, the table water filter remains hygienic and clean:
If you use a table water filter, you should always follow the operating instructions, change the cartridge and mineral stones regularly and clean the filter regularly to ensure that you always enjoy perfect, germ-free water quality. A reproduction of germs would be dangerous to health.
The Nikken water purifier has a cartridge change every 3 months or 900 liters (whichever comes first). The mineral stones are replaced once a year.
Does it make sense to filter tap water?
A water purifier definitely makes sense. You should be worth it.
? Are water filters useful and how do I filter water?
Yes, water filters are useful because they can additionally clean, mineralize and magnetize tap water. To filter, pour the tap water into the water filters and after filtering, remove the water through a tap.
? How long can I leave the water in the water filter?
Water should be drunk throughout the day after filtering and if possible emptied in the evening. If you travel for a few days, it is advisable to empty the filter completely and reactivate it when you return.
? Calcareous water - should I use a special water filter?
Yes, use water filters that consist of a two-stage filter system: an ion exchanger and an activated carbon filter. The formation of lime is prevented because calcium and magnesium ions are exchanged for sodium ions in the ion exchanger.
? Do water filters make sense with hard water?
? What can the water filter filter out of the water?
Nikken's activated carbon filter filters and reduces chlorine, heavy metals, metals such as mercury, chrome, lead, etc. contaminants such as pesticides, phosphate, etc. In addition, it is enriched with minerals, the ph-value increases and it becomes magnetised.
? How many litres of water can one cartridge filter?
This varies and depends on the filter system. The Nikken filter cartridge filters 900 liters at a constant filtration result.
? What if drinking water is one of the best controlled food items in the USA?
If this is the case, that is very pleasing and yet there are no limit values for various contaminants and the water can pick up further contaminants on its way from the waterworks to your home and can therefore be contaminated.
? Use water filters against copper and lead in tap water?
Yes, with the water filter that uses activated carbon filter and ion exchanger, the values are significantly reduced. In the test results up to 91%
? Can the filter filter microplastic from the water?
Yes, the water filter in Nikken's sports bottle can filter microplastics. most of the microplastic particles found in water are in the area no longer visible to the human eye. The CLM media in the new Nikken filter removes particles from 2 ?m upwards from the water by mechanically retaining these small plastic particles. These particles are too large to pass through the micropores of the filter media.
? Is it possible to use a water filter even with limescale contamination?
Yes, use water filters that consist of a two-stage filter system: an ion exchanger and an activated carbon filter. How much lime is absorbed by the water also depends on the pH value of the water. Acidic water dissolves more lime than alkaline water. Nikken's Waterfall raises the pH to an alkaline range.
